Swedish Steel Helmet M37/65, Cold War military issue
History
Original Swedish military steel helmet in the M37/65 configuration. A Cold War–era helmet combining pre-war steel shell design with a post-1960s liner and suspension system.
The Swedish Helmet m/37 was originally introduced in 1937 as Sweden modernized its infantry equipment in the pre–Second World War period. Unlike many European helmets designed primarily for mass armies, Swedish doctrine emphasized long-term durability, neutrality defense, and territorial protection.
During the Cold War, the helmet was updated to the M37/65 standard, featuring a redesigned liner and suspension system introduced in the 1960s. This upgrade significantly improved comfort, adjustability, and long-term wear during extended conscript service. The M37/65 remained in widespread use throughout the Cold War and into the late 20th century.

Condition.
Surplus condition. Expect signs of storage wear such as paint scuffs, patina on metal parts, or aged liner materials. Helmets may show unit markings, stamps, or production codes depending on batch and year. All wear is consistent with genuine military service equipment.
Wipe steel shell with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid soaking the liner; clean gently with mild soap if necessary and air dry fully. Light oil can be applied to metal hardware to prevent corrosion during storage.
Additional notes
This helmet is not intended for modern ballistic protection. It is sold as historical military equipment and should not be used as protective gear in live-fire or hazardous environments.
