The design was meant for field use. It has an oval body with a flattened base so it can stand upright, a ribbed side wall to resist crushing, and a wide threaded neck that makes filling, drinking and cleaning easier. Pre-war canteens had no cover and were carried in the bread bag.

After the Second World War, production resumed in the Polish People’s Republic, and the earliest post-war examples are dated 1948. The canteen was issued to soldiers of the Ludowe Wojsko Polskie (LWP) for decades with only minor changes. In the 1980s the cork seal in the cap was replaced with a rubber one. Production ended in 1991, after more than fifty years of service in the pre-war, communist-era and post-1989 Polish armed forces.

Product Description

Original Polish Army aluminium canteen, made in Poland.
